Suspended Ceiling – Information on Garage Door Fixings

In our previous blog we have written the standard clearances required to install a sectional garage door. Due the number of inquiries about fixings required for suspended ceilings we are now back with a short blog advising where these fixings are usually required. Please see drawing below:

Suspended Ceiling

If using timber for the fixings we would recommend them to be approximately 300mm x 300mm x 20mm thick. It is very important for these fixings to be fitted right above the ceiling and to be fixed to a solid structure; eg. the concrete slab above. The main purpose of these fixings is to provide a sound structure for your garage door operation as well as to prevent the ceiling from cracking.
